Standardization Related Information

Year Standardization Organization Notes Regarding Standardization
2013 CRYPTREC [new] Selected for New e-Government Recommended Ciphers Candidate List (in Japanese)
2008 CRYPTREC (Cryptography Research & Evaluation Committees)

Evaluation project on the e-government recommended cipher list by CRYPTREC Advisory Committee and CRYPTREC Evaluation Committee
PSEC-KEM Version 2.2 was certified as the valid PSEC-KEM specification, which is recommended cipher list by CRYPTREC.
2006 ISO/IEC (International Organization for Standardization/International Electrotechnical Commission) PSEC-KEM is adopted for the first time as the ISO/IEC international standard cipher (ISO/IEC18033-2). It was chosen because of its recognition as an encryption scheme with excellent security and performance.
2005 IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) PSEC-KEM was certified as the IETF standard cipher (Proposed Standard) for XML security URIs (RFC4051). This is the first domestic encryption algorithm to be certified.
2003

NESSIE (New European Schemes for Signature, Integrity and Encryption)

Selection project on the European recommendation of strong cryptographic primitives by EU (European Union)

PSEC-KEM is reported as an encryption scheme with excellent security and performance, and was selected as the primary European recommended cipher (RSA-KEM is secondary recommended).

CRYPTREC (Cryptography Research & Evaluation Committees)

Evaluation project on the e-government recommended cipher list by CRYPTREC Advisory Committee and CRYPTREC Evaluation Committee
PSEC-KEM is reported as an excellent secure encryption scheme, and was officially recognized as an e-government recommended cipher.
  Standardization Organization Notes Deliberation Status
Currently being proposed IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers) PSEC-KEM is being proposed to the encryption scheme in IEEE P1363 Deliberation
